Mark Shying - Policy Adviser on Financial Reporting and Governance

Dr Mark Shying CPA is the Senior Policy Adviser of CPA Australia for the area of Financial Reporting and Governance.  As CPA Australia's advocate on these matters, Mark makes full use of his previous experiences at the accounting standards setter and in academia.  Mark works closely with the CPA Australia Asia-Pacific Financial Reporting Advisory Group and the Financial Reporting and Governance Centre of Excellence.

John Ngiam

John Ngiam - Policy Adviser on Financial Reporting and Governance

John began his career as an external auditor with a major accounting firm and subsequently worked in commerce in an internal audit role. He has also been a technical consultant for the CPA Program. His involvement with two CPA Program segments, Financial Accounting and Financial Reporting and Disclosure, during the period of Australia's adoption of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) resulted in IFRS projects being conducted. John also prepares technical papers and provides support to CPA Australia's Financial Reporting and Governance Centre of Excellence and the Asia Pacific Financial Reporting Advisory Group.

Gary Pflugrath

Gary Pflugrath - Policy Adviser on Audit and Assurance

Gary Pflugrath (BBus, MBA, CPA, SA Fin) is our Policy Adviser, Audit and Assurance.  He recently joined CPA Australia after six years lecturing undergraduate and postgraduate accounting subjects at UNSW.  Previously Gary worked at the Reserve Bank of Australia in a variety of accounting and internal auditing roles.

Gavan Ord

Gavan Ord - Business Policy Adviser

Gavan Ord is CPA Australia's Business Policy Adviser. Gavan has responsibility for the development of policy and research on issues related to small medium enterprises (SMEs). Before joining CPA Australia, he held a senior role in Technical Policy and International Development and was a member of various Australian Government consultation committees, including the National Small Business Forum, the ATO's National Taxation Liaison Group, ATO Tax Practitioner Forum and Treasury Tax Design
